I’m Adriana Silva, an abstract expressionist from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Long story short; I do action painting as a form of meditation practice. It’s a way of creating space, so I can ground and loose myself to the present moment. My pieces are an evolving story of my love affair with color.
My two favorite ones are from my ‘color mandalas series’. They are direct projections of the colors I was feeling the moment I made them. It’s a repetitive process; I lay an unstreched canvas on the floor and start coloring from the inside out. I then splatter paint intuitively in circular motion to create a loose pattern.
Whenever I’m in this space, my monkey mind settles down and I immerse myself completely in the experience.
My art comes from a place of no mind.
Since each piece is a meditation on color, what took me hours to paint felt like a couple of minutes. I sometimes wonder If I’m the one doing the painting or the painting is doing me. The circles represent the core and essence of what we all are.
I am …red
After much searching, I’ve come to learn that colors are a statement.
A statement of that which we don’t have any words for, but wish to communicate. A statement of what we are feeling inside, but can’t really explain. A statement of the mystery of life itself.
Color speaks the language of our hearts. My intention in doing this is to invite the viewers to pause, get close and immerse themselves in the presence of bold hues.
I'm always fascinated when people find different shapes and objects that I didn't even realise where there.
My art use to come from a dark place, but now it’s just a playful and colorful exploration of the most precious commodity I posses; TIME. Like in an endless dance with a lover, my paintings are melodies that make me come alive.
